Message from Mme Marin

Bonjour!
I am very excited about my new position as Teacher Librarian at Dixon
One of my goals is to be able to plan and teach cooperatively with classroom teachers.
Specifically, this includes:
o       inviting teachers to collaborate and offering a wide variety of formats in which this can happen
o       being familiar with the latest provincial curriculum and the individual programs being offered in each classroom
o       determining goals which reflect students’ needs
o       helping to teach the skills and strategies which lead to [Link]information literacy
o       offering suggestions based on my own classroom experience
o       locating resources – in our own library, in other libraries, at the District Resource Centre and on the internet.
o       integrating literature and information skills into the curriculum.
o       instructing teachers and students in the use of electronic resources and tools
o       offering the library as a venue for research, presentations and collaborative teaching.  The library provides a greater physical space and can easily be transformed to reflect a theme or event.  Special projects which need a variety of resources can ‘happen’ more easily in the library.

One of my passions is information literacy and making the internet a valuable tool.
I love working with computers and hope to integrate the lab with the library as much as I can.
Please feel free to drop in to the library to offer suggestions or ask for help (or offer it!)
A bientôt, j'espère.      .... Mme Marin
