CHARLES E. LONDON SECONDARY SCHOOL

FINE ARTS -- ART

The Visual Art Department firmly believes in the intrinsic value of Art Education and recognizes the importance of Visual Art in the daily lives of all individuals living in this age of the visual image. Just look around you: Much Music, video games, billboards, ads, and galleries. We are surrounded by art of all kinds everyday. The question is how does someone think up something so original and creative? Well these artists do have a strategy and a plan, and they get paid for their ideas. In Art, we focus on such creative strategies and image development.

Ministerial directives and the special needs and interests of London students guide the content of the Art programme. At London, we have an exciting and dynamic Art programme where students are encouraged to experiment, express themselves and strive for excellence. Not only do students create, but they also discuss, research, listen to guest speakers and go on valuable field trips to enrich their experiences.

Evaluation is criterion based, and employs a variety of strategies. Integral to the process is growth and development in creativity and techniques.
