CHARLES E. LONDON SECONDARY SCHOOL

MATHEMATICS

Mathematics is an integral part of human experience. The reasoning skills developed through the study of mathematics are necessary for all citizens to function productively in society. Also important is the human satisfaction that arises from understanding mathematics as an extension of the concrete world. For these reasons, mathematics is an important component of education, and therefore it should be the right of every student to receive a level of mathematics instruction appropriate to his or her needs and abilities. Evaluation is ongoing throughout the course and formal written examinations take place at the end of each unit. Similarly, some students will be exposed to Canadian and international math competitions.
