TWO-WEEK SPRING BREAK SURVEY - Please complete by January 23
The Richmond Board of Education is seeking your input regarding the continuation of a Two-Week Spring Break in future years.

Background
In May of 2010, The Board of Education (Richmond) voted to accept a staff recommendation to change the 2010-11 school calendar through the implementation of a Two-Week Spring Break (March 21-April 1, 2011). The recommendation was made based on the positive impact that it was believed it would have on staff and student wellness, as well as its anticipated value as a cost-saving measure.

In order to achieve this additional week of Spring Break, additional time was added to each school day (8 minutes at elementary, 9 minutes at secondary), ensuring that the instructional time for the year met the required time as set out by the Ministry of Education.  The two-week spring break model was piloted a second time in 2012 during March 12-23 and will be piloted a third time in 2013 during March 15-28.

Your Input
Your feedback on whether or not to continue the two-week spring break is welcomed.  Please take a few minutes to answer the brief online survey by clicking here.   If you are unable to complete the survey online, you can drop by our school's office where you can obtain a paper copy of the survey to complete.  The deadline to complete the survey is Wednesday, January 23rd, 4:00 P.M.
