Student Conduct on School Buses

It is the practice of the Board of Education (Richmond) to provide transportation for certain children in its schools.  However, parents remain responsible for supervision until such time as the child boards the bus in the morning and after the child leaves the bus at the end of the school day.

The Board encourages all students in the district to behave responsibly at all times, and expects students riding school buses to maintain a reasonable standard of courtesy and decorum.  Although it is not required to convey students to and from school, the Board provides transportation and transportation assistance to students.  Permission to ride a school bus is a privilege, which may be revoked.

In case of student misbehaviour on school buses, the Board authorizes bus drivers and principals to take appropriate disciplinary action, as defined in district regulations.
