Funds Raised for Schools

The Board of Education (Richmond) recognizes that fund raising activities may be necessary at the school level to support curricular programmes, extra-curricular programmes, and cultural activities.  While the Board permits a variety of school fund raising projects, all shall be accounted for in accordance with regulations and guidelines established by the Superintendent of Schools.

The Board recognizes the diversity existing in the composition of the groups wishing to raise funds, the purposes for which funds are raised, and the methods used to control the funds.

Whatever the source or ultimate purpose of the funds, all records related to a school's fund raising activity are considered part of the school's financial records for the purpose of audit.

Adopted:  05 March 1990
